Lit. #: 91-0222/03-01
12-36 x 50mm Vari-Power
Spotting Scope
1. MOUNTING
Remove the spotting scope and tripod from the box. Screw
the tripod attachment screw into the tripod boss on the
spotting scope. Spread the tripod legs and set on a solid
surface.
Model # 78-1236
2. CONTROLS
The spotting scope is focused with the focus ring. The tube
with the vari-power ring and the eyepiece will move “in” and
“out” depending on the direction the ring is turned. When
the tube is all the way “out,” the spotting scope is at its
closest focus position.
5. CAUTION
Never disassemble your spotting scope or tripod. Special tools
and equipment are required for service and irreparable
damage can result from untrained attempted service.
Unauthorized service may also void the Warranty.
The magnification is changed by rotating the vari-power ring.
It will be necessary to re-focus when the magnification is
changed.
The spotting scope is positioned, on the tripod with the
elevation and horizontal control. To adjust where the scope
is pointing, rotate the handle counter clockwise. To lock,
rotate the handle clockwise.
WARRANTY/REPAIR
3. USE
Remove the dust caps. Point the spotting scope as desired –
as described in section 2.
CAUTION: DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN THROUGH THIS
SPOTTING SCOPE AS SEVERE EYE DAMAGE MAY RESULT.
Set the vari-power ring at the lowest power (20x). Focus the
spotting scope as described in section 2. Increase the power,
and re-focus. Please note, however, that at the highest
powers the image may not appear sharp, because of several
causes. First, the image will become less bright, second, all
disturbances and contaminations in the air will be
emphasized, and last, all motion and vibration of the spotting
scope and support will also be magnified.

4. CARE
The lenses of your spotting scope are 100% hard magnesium
fluoride coated for highest light transmission. As with any
optical coating, special care must be taken in cleaning the
lenses. A Lens Cleaning Kit is recommended. Moisten surface
of lens slightly and wipe dry using a circular motion starting
at center of lens. Wipe or brush off any dirt or dust on the
outside of spotting scope and tripod.
